Some people seem to forget there is an art to rearing the snakes that are chosen for slaughter to obtain the purest form of snake oil. Not all snake oil is suitable for HiFi use.

saving regular websites on my Amp

BBC Sounds isn’t on WiiM. It’s just a couple of links to international streams. Full BBC Sounds does require a (free) account.

Powering WiiM Pro Plus with a power bank

I can wholeheartedly say that powering an Audio device with a powerbank can have benefits. I use a Raspberry Pi Zero W piggy backed onto a powerbank coupled with an Audioquest Dragonfly. It lets me use my wired headphones with HiRes audio in a portable manner. The powerbank doesn't make the SQ...

    Hooking Wiim Pro to AVR

Using a WiiM with an AVR is always going to have this sort of issue. Just FYI there are quite a few modern DAC/Amps that can detect signal over Digital circuits and auto-on as a result but I haven't seem any with an Analog equivalent. You need an old fashioned trigger input for this. I'm...

    Hooking Wiim Pro to AVR

The issue is the analog input chain on an AVR. It typically goes like this. Analog -> ADC -> DSP -> DAC -> Amp -> Speakers Add a WiiM in front WiiM DAC -> Analog -> ADC -> DSP -> DAC -> Amp -> Speakers OR WiiM -> Optical/Coax -> DSP -> DAC -> Amp -> Speakers Even if your Pure Direct or...

    Use of Tags

I have been doing just that until last week when I built a new Pi5 LMS server. I might yet opt for a NUC type solution but currently unsure. It will depend on the performance of the Pi - you can of course backup the entire SD card. Music files are on a NAS.

    Use of Tags

Consider a Raspberry Pi as a cheap always on server. They are easy to build and you can experiment with various server software by having more than one SD card.

I think that is a customised version of MiniDLNA which has some issues in conjunction with WiiM.

    Wiim Mini with Powerbank?

It will work. How long depends on which powerbank you buy.

Wiim devices not appearing in LMS

WiiM devices don’t provide the -s setting anywhere. -s is a Squeezelite parameter that allows you to define the IP address of the LMS server. Normally this is not required as a Squeezelite player can auto discover the LMS server using TCP/UDP 3483 but this only works when the player and the...

    External DAC sound quality thoughts

If you aren't going to use the inbuilt streaming capabilty but want to use an external DAC as the input then what point is there in having the WiiM Amp at all? Get something else more suitable.

Wiim Amp + Q Acoustic 3010i vs HomePod 2 stereo pair?

The WiiM / Q Acoustic combo should sound better on an objective basis but they are your ears….,

Streaming service OR your own local content?

Q1. During the working day I kick off with a random album and then let LMSs Don’t Stop The Music entertain me with a mix from my local library and Qobuz. During the evening it’s albums only either from my local library or Qobuz. My local library comprises rips from CD and Vinyl. I still buy...
