    Updated Products Roadmap

Once this feature lands we can look forward to some heated debates on bit perfect vs ASRC/FSR.

    Updated Products Roadmap

It must be due to the weaker SOC. This feature would presumably need to capture, convert, and cast the audio stream. I don't think the mini has airplay cast either, it's only really powerful enough to act as a receiver/player I think and doesn't even get all of these features due to lack of...

    Updated Products Roadmap

This is listed for the pro/plus. Which model do you have? Configurable ASRC and fixed sample rate to eliminate the pop noise for specific external DAC (5/30)

    DSD to PCM transcode on-the-fly

I had read/understood that the ESS DACs actually do a conversion to PCM and then to analog. I'm really not sure what difference this makes vs native decoding or how well this is supported That's my point exactly. I have few devices which can decode this format natively but can easily convert...

    DSD to PCM transcode on-the-fly

Thanks. I wasn't trying to derail your thread. I'm interested to hear what others think on the subject, I'm just sharing my opinion. My underlying question remains. Assuming that most equipment can't natively decode DSD anyway and whatever sonic advantage that may or may not bring, what is the...

    DSD to PCM transcode on-the-fly

I appreciate your lengthy reply. You've obviously taken opinion as some sort of personal attack which is not my intention. Yes I have SACDs Yes I have ripped them and converted them and played them. Yes I find ripping them in their native encoding to be a major hassle as most of my equipment...

DSD passthrough to a DSD-capable DAC

Yes, that seems to be the case, LMS is sending the metadata of the source file regardless of how the file is actually being sent, My DAC shows a sample rate of 176k when playing the files this way which confirms that a PCM conversion is taking place before reaching the DAC. On my PC using...

    DSD to PCM transcode on-the-fly

I'm not sure what the joke is here. That DSD is dead, or that you can hear the difference between on-the-fly and offline conversion?

    DSD to PCM transcode on-the-fly

Thanks. This is surprising and good on the Wiim team for taking onboard the requests from the community, but I still can't see the benefit of waiting for this instead of just converting the files to PCM/FLAC for near universal playback compatibility.

DSD passthrough to a DSD-capable DAC

That all makes sense, and exceeds my prior understanding. All I know is that if I enable PCM conversion in DSD player (by disabling DoP), Wiim reports a 1 bit format leading me to assume it must be 1 bit PCM.

    DSD to PCM transcode on-the-fly

I wouldn't hold your breath, SACD/DSD is a dead format. Convert the files to FLAC, hi-res or just 16/44 as you please, and tell me if they sound any worse.

DSD passthrough to a DSD-capable DAC

If I enable DOP in the LMS player settings the Wiim has no idea what it is playing and just shows "squeezelite". If I leave DOP disabled (the default) to enable PCM conversion, Wiim sees the 1 bit PCM along with the track info. I was pretty sure that Wiim had no DSD support. If I was designing...

DSD passthrough to a DSD-capable DAC

Yes, that makes sense. I can get the same from my external DAC by enabling DSD-over-PCM (DOP) in the LMS DSD Player plugin, as well as disabling EQ, volume, and fade in the Wiim to preserve the format for pass through to my DAC as per daydreamer's intructions. Personally I don't see the point...

LMS doesn’t see WiiM Amp as player

Not exactly, I did say that my current receiver and media player are reliable renderers, but I have and have had far more devices which were not reliable to the point that I have decided to not even try. I don't know what the process/cost/resources are to select reliable equipment but even then...
