Thanks for sharing this. This is the first time I’ve seen this switch and turning it off does indeed fix the fade in issue I’ve been having. Neil Peart’s bass drum rattles my rib cage again on the opening note of Tom Sawyer. Rejoice!
Whatever the problem was that this is supposed to be a solution to, it could not have been a music fan who signed off on it. Trilogy is one of the greatest albums of the 1970s ( and that’s saying something), and this fade in is a disaster. Worse than that, the first note of Tom Sawyer fades in...
Wiim never replied to me, but my solution was to stop using windows media sharing and use MinimServer as my DNLA server instead, still using the Wiim app. It works really well.
I’m using the wiim app. And I found the setting at the service level to set max resolution - and mine was set to 24/96. Thanks for this, another mystery solved :) I may try 24/192 and keep it if I can hear a difference but my Bifrost gets hot enough already, don’t want to trigger a meltdown.
I can get 24/192 from Qobuz on my PC. I can get 24/192 over DNLA on my WiiM(COAX). But like you, I max out at 24/96 from Qobuz on the WiiM. As for Mr Ee’s advice to ignore the numbers and enjoy the music : This is the way.
Thanks for your help. I guess the WiiM app has been hiding the limitations of Windows sharing up to now. But it’s all worked out well, because I’m trying MinimServer and the results are much better: better artwork, better tagging and indexing and correct play order! So thanks again!
Just the default DNLA server that comes with windows 11. My files are mostly .wav, and my filenames include the order: 01 Track1, 02 Track2 etc. Until recently that was enough for the WiiM app to get the order right. Now it alphabetical based on the track name metadata.
