Seems Tidal app SW version related if you ask me. I had the Tidal Connect working almost like a clock until a month
or so when Tidal Connection drop out problem started again. Both on my Samsung Galaxy S20FE and my Galaxy Tab S7 devices.
And the problem is no matter if I stream to my Wiim Mini...
If you remove the phycological aspect from the equation I would say analog output stage is one of the mayor things
that can separate how a DAC sounds. Far more than a power supply or some fancy re-clocking or "M-scaler" (looking at you Chord)
If SMSL can produce the D6s for 200/250 (dollar/euro) then Wiim should be able to equip the Ultra with ES9039Q2M.
I bought the D6s just for fun and as a DAC it sounds just as good as ANY other DAC. Unfortunately there is some kind of handshake problem over USB between the D6s and Bluesound Node...
Yes but as someone else mentioned: "should the Ultra stand for ultra many features or ultra superb sound quality". Wait I think I know what most of you will answer... both!!!
I've been living the "tablet on a coffee table" life style with using Node, Lumin D2 and Wiim Pro. Since my sofa is almost 4 meters away from my stereo rack I would have very little use of a streamer with a screen and although using a TV could be fun I would much rather see a streamer that focus...
Yes, removing the DAC out of the product limits the market and puts the product into the audiophile category and now the price just went up, up, up. Through in a LPSU and wrap it with an aluminum case and you need to put a zero after the current price of a Wiim Pro Plus.
I would really like...
I have experimented using the USB out from a Bluesound Node and compared it to both the COAX out from the Node and also my Wiim Pro COAX out and the USB output sounded the best on all my DACs. I had some issues with Topping and MQA on the USB out though.
So if I already have a Node with USB out...
I have not started calling it "Ultimate" this product name I believe started as a joke and some of us now refer to it as a project name for a Wiim streamer without a DAC and a USB output
Still no news about if/when Wiim will release the "Wiim Ultimate"? Built in LPSU like the Holo Red would be nice but
external PSU will also be OK. What we desperately would like to see is a Wiim without internal DAC and instead an USB output to external DAC
i2s/HDMI would be nice but not that...
