I had the same issue today. I noticed that the same tracks on Qobuz playing through the WiiM app were louder than playing through LMS's Qobuz app, even though I had the fixed volume setting activated in LMS. I set the volume control to variable in LMS (at 100%) and no longer heard a difference...
That sounds like a very plausible explanation, and somewhat reassuring. But it would be good if they could fix this, and "guarantee" what they advertise.
My DAC does not display sample rates. As mentioned previously, it has a build-in bit-perfect test that displays a character ("P") when the test is successful. So with a Qobuz playlist I can only see the change of sample rate on the WiiM app, and it displays it correctly.
I copied the files on my phone and now none of them pass the test, even when played individually. I also tried playing them from my phone through USB Audio Player Pro (through UPNP, with bit-perfect setting), and that fails as well. In my previous tests, these two configurations were...
How many seconds are your test tracks?
The test tracks provided by my DAC's manufacturer are between 3 and 5 seconds long. The check is performed on the whole track.
