Okay here’s a potentially daft interconnect question: I’ve plugged my Marantz CD player in to the optical in on the WiiM Pro Plus, instead of plugging it in to the Naim Nait 5i amp directly. And it sounds pretty great.
Is using a bog standard optical cable in this way better than me investing...
I've just wasted a good hour going back and reading this entire thread. And I'm still none the wiser. Do I need to buy a better power supply for my WiiM Pro Plus, use an old Apple USB power supply, or just crack on with the power supply that was in the box? Which sounds fine so far, to my ears.
I think in this brilliant, considered reply you’ve helped me make a useful decision. I prefer the UX of Tidal Connect over using Qobuz (either via WiiM Home or via Chromecast from the Qobuz app).
So until Qobuz Connect arrives - if ever! - I’m going to use Tidal.
Thank you! 🙏
Thank you 🙏 This is a bit clearer now.
But I’m still unclear as to which platform - Tidal or Qobuz - has the biggest library of FLAC files? ie Which is the better option for
WiiM users like myself who don’t use an external DAC that can “unfold” Tidal MQA streams? 🙏🙏🙏
Before I switch from Qobuz to Tidal on 10th April I need to understand something better.
Tidal MQA versus Qobuz - is MQA still a sticking point for WiiM users? How much of Tidal’s hi res catalogue is encoded using MQA? If the WiiM cannot decode MQA will the resulting quality be CD quality or...
Ta 🙏 I've been playing Qobuz mainly since I bought the WPP and the very highest resolution tunes have been showing up as 32 bit/192 Khz in the song info alongside track playing, so I don't *think* I've been missing out. I also think the WPP's DAC sounds pretty great, so I'm unsure about those...
So here's a question - this setting to choose the maximal optical or Coax output resolution - talks about 'to check your downstream device can support this resolution'... which makes me think > is this setting only applicable if you are using an external DAC?
