Stupid question- does a turntable need a preamp to broadcast through a Pro?

In WiiMs defence many modern starter level HiFi turntables include a built in pre-amp. Not all but many. Old school turntables never did.

Dual Network Interface for WiiM Amp

I know. I'm asking whether there is one interface on each with different IPs/subnets to check that the DHCP server on his routers are working correctly but the issue is that the discovery mechanism won't hop across subnets when one is NATd from the other.

Dual Network Interface for WiiM Amp

That is quite normal. Does the WiFI have a different IP / Subnet to the Ethernet ?

    Sorry. Got mixed up.

Dual Network Interface for WiiM Amp

I think we are talking about a self build networking solution rather than a deliberate VLAN.

    LMS Stops Working

Yes the Community Image is what I meant. I take it then that there is nothing esoteric about your Ubuntu host. Have you posted in https://forums.slimdevices.com/ as you are more likely to get a response there. Use the Linux/Unix area and the dedicated Docker thread -...

Question about streaming Qobuz via WiiM Pro Plus

Just adding that there is a third alternative which is Qobuz via LMS using the WiiM Pro Squeezelite client. This will give you 24/192 and gapless with no issue.

Dual Network Interface for WiiM Amp

Because his ISP shipped a router configured like that would be my guess. It's becoming more common and for those that don't know any different why would they ever question it.

    LMS Stops Working

You should be looking at 8.5 which is the latest stable release - https://lms-community.github.io/lms-server-repository/ That said I have no issue with a WiiM Pro (ethernet) and an 8.4 server.

Stupid question- does a turntable need a preamp to broadcast through a Pro?

This is a cheap and cheerful Phono pre-amp that will do the job -...

    Does optical passthrough work well?

Make sure TV optical out is set at PCM Stereo and not Dolby Digital etc. The WiiM can only manage 2 channel PCM.

    Blurry album art from NAS

What order do other UPnP servers use to determine which image to display in their index pages? LMS for example will display an embedded image from the first track of an album where it finds one or if none then folder.jpg or cover.jpg. For file size reasons it’s therefore better not to embed but...

    Blurry album art from NAS

I think mconnect reads the embedded cover art directly whereas the miniDLNA sends a reduced version that it created at scan time but I may be wrong

    Blurry album art from NAS

Almost certainly the router has a version of miniDLNA on it which has been chosen because it is very lightweight - a router doesn't have much spare processing power for additional tasks - and is sending a reduced sized image accordingly.

Note for those who use TIDAL, Pandora, and Deezer via LMS

An update on this. 1. Logitech have extended the life of mysqueezebox.com until 19th March but the service will be switched off on that date. 2. Some very clever souls have already implemented local LMS plugins for Tidal, Pandora and Deezer meaning that these services can continue to be used...

Switch from AirPlay 2 to AirPlay 1

Why would Apple allow that? It would be admitting that their new better implementation isn't better at all (even though most of us already know that).

Looking for suggestions: replacing Plex (Linux/Android)

I use both. LMS is my music server of choice and has been for close to 20 years where I have watched as a product that Logitech stopped selling over 10 years ago just get better and better. Plex is a different animal and I have used it for video for maybe 6 years but just recently I pointed it...
