I have a very similar issue happened with one of my pro plus last night, it started crackling and sputtered then cut out. As an Amazon purchase and past 30 days so they won’t touch.

If you genuinely cannot hear a difference, and you enjoy the lower bitrate stream then save the money. Enjoyment, not critical listening is most important. Merry Christmas.

I already had a pi with Allo Boss dac running volumio before I purchased the pro plus, I have a 1TB ssd usb drive attached to it, I just access this device via dnla and browse via the Home app, it works perfectly well and cost me zero additional money.

No headphone out is a large no no for me, I love my night time listening when family are asleep and using an additional amp is not feasible
