    WiiM Ultra

I am using the WIim Pro as a digital streamer only, I am using EQ sometimes, which also works on the digital outputs. Hopefully with the Ultra the EQ will also work on the USB output. USB output sometimes gives a better sound quality than SPDIF or AES/EBU, because the clock is controlled by...

    WiiM Ultra

So much looking forward to the new Ultra, it has almost everything I want (need), optical- and HDMI input, USB- and optical output. A second HDMI and/or optical input would have been welcome in my case, but is no dealbreaker to me. Together with the very useful app, including EQ and PEQ makes...

Why do you want that discussion here over and over again?

And do you have it already in use, if so, what is your impression? Another very good power supply for the WIim Pro, not mentioned yet afak, is the USB power output of the Audioquest Powerblock Powerquest 2 or 3, I have the 3, and in my situation and to my ears it is comparable to the...

That also depends on the resolution of your system and your taste. With my modest DAC / Headphone Amp driving my headphones I found the WIim Pro powered by a linear power supply from Audiophonics gave a more pleasant and more natural sound. I did not have the possibility to listen first before...

Test WIIM pro+ with different power supplies

I have tried that Supra cable on my DAC / Headphone amp, it gave a darker sound with less details, therefore I am not a fan of this cable. If you like I can sent you 1 m. without plugs.

Test WIIM pro+ with different power supplies

Nice, I have the same LPSU but using the digital out of the Wiim Pro. Even in this set-up it does improve the sound quality. I have also experimented with different power cables feeding the LPSU, but if there are differences I can't really hear them. As always YMMV.

Test WIIM pro+ with different power supplies

Exciting , I have also pulled the plug / pressed the 'buy' button. Hearing how much the Wiim Pro is sensitive to different power supllies, I have bought a nice power cable for the LPS. Hopefully it will be an upgrade. I have to be patient, it still needs to be delivered and then burn in etc. To...

Then you should be fine if you are using a Power X. Because IFI is from the UK, we can assume that they have considered the correct polarity.

Test WIIM pro+ with different power supplies

Sorry for my lousy English. From the mains one pole is neutral (0 V), the other pole of a power socket has the mains voltage (230 V), at least in this country. Below are two images, not of my actual power block, but to show what I meant by turning 180⁰. Does this clarify it?

Thank you and yes, going to concerts a lot with unamplified music does help. Although it is not always a blessing. Sometimes musicians might be playing very well, but if, to my ears, the instruments don't match optimal soundwise, then it can be difficult for me to enjoy the music. Next chapter...

🤔 Maybe we should try to plug it all into one socket of a power block.... 😇

Test WIIM pro+ with different power supplies

I have finally listened with Wiim Pro powered by the IFI Power X and comparing the IFI to the LPS (Linear Power Supply) as tested earlier in this post this post , using my playlist on Qobuz: Wiim Pro PSUs test . The description of the DAC/Amp and headphones etc. is in my profile. First I...

That is a pity, it was such a nice idea. Do you have a plan b? The Ifi PowerX has arrived, have it connected but no time to listen now, in a few days hopefully.

Test WIIM pro+ with different power supplies

I have pulled the plug 😉 and ordered a Ifi iPowerX 5V to compare it with the LPS, who knows what it will bring? Price is approx. +25% of what I paid for the LPS. Hopefully by the end of this week I can report.

Using this one: AUDIOPHONICS LPSU25 Linear Regulated Low Noise Power Supply USB 220V to 5V 2A 25VA . It is actually for 220 to 240 VAC input, they also make a 115VAC version. Yesterday I have listened to music for over 12 hours, no listening fatigue at all, if it wasn't way past bedtime, I...

    Another hymn of praise 😉

What is nice topic, must be very useful feedback for the Wiim team. 1. I like that the WIIM Pro has an optical throughput. It makes it so much easier to integrate in my setup. 2. It turns out that it scales well with a better power supply, so I am happy that you can get an even higher quality...

Test WIIM pro+ with different power supplies

I downloaded the tracks so I could play them bit perfect. Were these tracks recorded with a microphone in front of speakers, because that how it sounds to me, or is it just my imagination? Or did u use the fixed analog line out and converted it back to digital?

Test WIIM pro+ with different power supplies

Thank you for sharing, that is a very good sign, could it be that by listening differences can still be heard? I am not here wanting to convince anybody of my ways of listening and testing. It's just that I like more listening with my heart than with my brains. Of course I would like to hear...

Test WIIM pro+ with different power supplies

The Audiophonics 5V linear power supply (LPS) has arrived. Could not wait to hear what is would bring, using the digital output of the Wiim Pro into the DAC/HPA (headphone amp). Note that I have been very happy with the Wiim Pro, but out of curiosity wanted to experiment if and how I could get...
