    Support for plex

Yes the fades are nice to have, but you should be able to disable them. Currently this has to be done on the playback device itself. For the raspberry pi headless system, the setting needs to be accessed through the Plexamp web interface for example. Not sure how they'll incorporate those kind...

    Support for plex

The implementation will be exactly like the Lumin :) Also the question remains if you'll be able to use it without a Plexpass subscription/license. Headless playback on a Raspberry Pi for example does require it. https://darko.audio/2024/04/audiolab-adds-plexamp-support-to-9000n-streaming-dac/

    Support for plex

I don't really care about all those gimmicks except maybe for fades if I want to do some background listening with specific playlists. As long as it can play bit-perfect & gapless, I'm happy :)

    Support for plex

Plex support just announced for the Audiolab 9000N streamer! I suppose it'll support Plexamp too. Your move, @WiiM Team ;)

    Wait, is it? :)

    Android Media Controls

@WiiM Support is something like this in the works? I expected something as simple and fundamental would soon be implemented after I got my WiiM Pro, but it's been 6 months with having to switch back to the app to control my music 🙃 less of an issue when using a 3rd party app of course, but...

    Display screen for WiiM pro

+1 for casting a "now playing" info to a screen (Google Nest Hub, TV with Chromecast...)! That's actually super cleverly done by Roon :)

    Optical cables dont fit

Just for the looks, I went with a few of these recently.. No audible difference in sound quality, but they look nice! https://www.amazon.com.be/-/en/dp/B07FVYKT4Y?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details I've also had to twist the connectors a bit so they would line up nicely on both sides.

    YouTube Chromecast not working?

I have no experience with Youtube Music, but I suppose that should definitely work yes! And a workaround for audio from Youtube videos would be to cast the audio from your phone or from your current tab in the Chrome webrowser, but not without some horrible transcoding apparently.

WiiM Wake-Up Light Beta Test Users

My initial suggestion after reading the features was to add a built-in wireless charger, but it seems rather difficult with the form factor :)

    12 volt trigger out

Note that gear with 12v trigger ins mostly use optocouplers and additional circuitry to "read" incoming trigger signals to then cycle a relay with some additional power. So the 12v out of the WiiM might not have enough power to control a mechanical device like a relay.

    Optical cables dont fit

Yes it's true that the binary info is not going to be sent trough as perfect squares over toslink/coax cables since the actual medium of those cables is of analog nature (light, voltage). The bits of the digital info sent through those cables are read with a certain threshold above and below 0v...

    Optical cables dont fit

Interesting :) who knows I'll give it a try later and make some recordings from my DAC or even straight into an audio interface with optical input. Only if I can safely return it within 30 days. The 'problem' is that in my standard setup, I have 3 digital sources for music (cd, raspberry pi &...

    Optical cables dont fit

Haha I saw that thing too. The guy who recently bought my Raspberry Pi was convinced his music sounded better from usb hard drive than when streaming from his NAS 😛 Maybe it was a good thing I was able to buy it back.. Less headaches for him 😁

    Optical cables dont fit

I'll take that as a compliment. I just don't think it's fair to recommend a €130 cable if you can't provide any additional info or put your finger on the improvement. Guess it was just a matter of time before Pandora's audiophile box was going to be opened 😀 But I'm sure most people on the...

    Optical cables dont fit

Instead of just laughing at my comment, could you elaborate what kind of improvement you're getting @BMoreJazz? No doubt it'll just work as it should of course! Heck, my next investment will probably be some fancier optical cables as well - more durable & flexible ones especially. The...

    Optical cables dont fit

.. an optical cable which costs more than the WiiM Mini? Have you done any measurements? If you can reach higher bitrates and/or sample rates with that cable, your other cables were simply broken or faulty to begin with.

A vote for Plex support on Wiim Pro

They do not support upnp. There's only a very sketch workaround involving running a docker VM which allows to link upnp devices to your plex account. It's far from perfect and most of the time it won't even let me skip tracks. When asking for proper upnp support on their forums, they're quick...

    Support for plex

Hear hear!! I'm glad I was able to buy back my Raspberry Pi setup from the same guy, just for Plexamp. And just like you intend to do, the WiiM Pro takes care of all other online services. But still, would be nice to combine all of that into one box.

    Home share user experience

Same here.. Eventually I bought back my Pi steaming setup because the other guy couldn't really get his head around it. I'm now running a clean installation of Plexamp headless on top of Raspberry pi OS for my local music. The WiiM Pro is an endpoint for chromecast audio, webradio, Spotify and...
