    WiiM Ultra

To be fair, you can't control an IR device without looking at where you're pointing, either. Or if there's a bright light source in the room, or if someone or something is standing in front of you, or if you're in another room, or if two devices use the same frequencies, and pressing 'play'...

    WiiM Amp Pro

I would also be surprised if it would indeed go for only € 399, but to be fair, the only difference between the normal and the Pro that anyone could actually notice would be the improved wireless connectivity.

Ultra and amp pro and prices..

What are the rectangular boxes on the second picture? The only thing I can find for "CI MOD S" is a website that says it was registered as a trademark somewhere between 1 May and today. https://www.jas-audio.or.jp/english/hi-res-logo-en/use-situation-en

B&W 603S2 or KEF IQ70 for WiiM Amp?

A system sounds like the speakers. There are no other rules. If you like spending money on theoretical differences, go ahead, but you shouldn't scare other people into thinking they also need to spend way more. I have a pair of Focal Chorus 826V, which are actually very similar to the B&W model...

    WiiM Amp blows NAD M10v2

This is more of a speaker comparison than an amp comparison, though. Towers always sound better than bookshelf models, especially if they're in a significantly higher price class.

WiiM Mini: linux client - cannot play via bluetooth or airplay

Sorry, looks like I quoted the wrong post. Meant to quote this which includes the ticket number: #497020

WiiM Mini: linux client - cannot play via bluetooth or airplay

I'm not sure why neither of those is working for you. I am using openSUSE Tumbleweed, and can set my computer to output audio via Bluetooth (AAC, SBC and SNC-XQ) and Airplay. The only thing I had to do was open up my firewall for Airplay, because the default settings are apparently too strict. I...

    What speakers are you using?

I wrote this elsewhere already, but my Amp is connected to a pair of Focal Chorus 826V tower speakers in a room of about 27 m². I rarely move the volume past the second indicator light. I really love the speakers, and the Amp does a great job in bringing their qualities to the foreground. It...

Did tvOS 17.4 or latest WiiM firmware break Airplay?

I finally figured out my issue as well, apparently the update made the default firewall settings a bit too strict. I had to re-enable network access for Airplay and now it works again!

    Mainstream audio is getting afraid

The thing is that no one's going to introduce any of those terms (and/as all of those countries are geopolitically west-aligned). The other term was coined specifically to play into existing negative stereotypes about China and Chinese products (and/as China is geopolitically not west-aligned)...

    Mainstream audio is getting afraid

I don't think this is true. Most people have only ever listened to music on cheap radios with very cheap speakers and found no issue with it. There are now more options than ever to listen to music, and in fact the average quality of cheap music formats, Bluetooth speakers, earbuds, headphones...

    Humming noise

Indeed, if the shop refuses to reply, please contact your consumer protection organisation to threaten the shop with legal action. Not only are they breaking German, but also and especially EU law. WiiM didn't sell the product directly to you and therefore has no obligation to reply to you. The...

    Mainstream audio is getting afraid

I wouldn't go so far as to say any format, but I must admit I was recently incredibly impressed by just how good a well-recorded cassette sounds - especially type 4 tapes, but even high quality type 1 tapes, even without any Dolby Noise Reduction. Without comparing the cassette and the cd...

Use the Volume button to cycle inputs with visual feedback of LED's.

I agree, it should be possible to change the input on the amp itself. You can do it on the Pro, so why not on the Amp? One easy way to do this that wouldn't interfere with other functions of the knob would be to require the user to press and turn the knob while still keeping it pressed in. To...

WiiM Amp review in What Hi-Fi?

This surprised me as well. Surely an audiophile reviewer would want to connect a cd player via the optical input, which isn't even mentioned in the review at all? But many expensive amps don't even have optical inputs, so perhaps that's why the reviewer neglected to mention it. (Also, looking...

WiiM Amp review in What Hi-Fi?

I'm convinced ChatGPT and the likes are based entirely on audio reviews.

Did tvOS 17.4 or latest WiiM firmware break Airplay?

Perhaps coincidental, but since a couple of days I am also unable to connect my Linux computer to the Amp via Airplay. Just like you, both the Amp and the computer were updated the same evening, and the next day the Amp no longer even shows up as an Airplay device on my computer. I assumed it...

Housecurve App running on iPhone and Wiim Amp

EQ is volume. If you change the settings the way Wiimer showed, the volume of all frequencies should be significantly lower. If the overall volume doesn't change with those settings, something is definitely not working right.

WiiM Amp Bluetooth Input -- is it possible?

In my case I just select the SBC-XQ codec on my computer (I only have to do it once, after that it's saved as the default codec for that Wiim device). The way Bluetooth works is that the Wiim Amp says "hello, I support receiving SBC and AAC". When you want to connect a Bluetooth device to it...

Bluetooth latency problem - bug or expected behaviour?

One thing I don't know is whether the Wiim Amp can also *transmit* SBC-XQ. The device runs on Linux, so in theory it should be able to, but I'm not sure how to test whether it actually does.
