    WiiM Ultra

Does WiiM have plans to make an Ultra available to ASR for measurements?

    WiiM Ultra

Thanks for that insight. Reading a few other sources confirms it's a fairly complex topic in terms of what's audible. I've noticed that keeping my external DAC at max volume and controlling the overall system volume via my WiiM Pro produces obvious, far better results than the other way around...

    WiiM Ultra

I'd like to better understand how/why adjusting the volume on a Pro compromises the bit perfect aspect of the stream. Any additional info would be appreciated.

Is it too early to anticipate the power conversion kit to replace the SMPS with a external facing barrel connector?

    WiiM Ultra launch price

If I'm putting out a poll about pricing and setting the lowest selection at $349, I'd be sure to offer the device at an introductory price of $299 to exceed all expectations. I don't see how it helps WiiM to hint at $349 and then ask $400+. But that's me.

    WiiM Ultra

With the 3.5 inch display, I'm fine with one VU meter instead of a pair.

Would certainly be interested in beta testing if the opportunity presented itself.

    WiiM Ultra

From the article, USB-A "for media playback" doesn't sound like USB that will provide digital output to a DAC. Am I misreading that?

    WiiM Ultra

To Recap The WiiM Support Admin has been kind enough to post 9 times to date about the Ultra. I’d say we know quite a bit about it already. Post #195 had the most info. By feature - USB out - Post #195. Additionally, the USB out will 1) support room correction EQ functionality - Post #239, 2)...

Well, that clearly was off target.

    WiiM Ultra

I'm thinking more like WiiM engineers to a price point and certainly provides high value. I'd like to see price point become a noticably distant secondary consideration for their top tier. I also think it's possible to spend, say, $1,000 and still get something of remarkably high value that...

    WiiM Ultra

An Ultra at a price point south of $400 just doesn't make much sense to me but I can't help but thinking that is what we'll get. If it absolutely must have a DAC, and a screen, I'd much prefer having the option of seeing WiiM's class leading software baked into a no compromise device in the...

    WiiM Ultra

Ok. Ok. Keep the screen. It'll have VU meters. They'll be amusing for a few minutes. I'm more disappointed by the internal power supply. They could have gone wall wart and left some room for the linear ps crowd to roll their own. I blame the phono stage. Talk about a 70's idea.

    WiiM Ultra

I think we're both curious as to why someone would want a screen on the Ultra. Admittedly, I took what you said and spun it a little so I could list off a few more reasons why I think it's largely an uninspired idea. Every time I see someone touch the screen of an Eversolo to perform a task in...

    WiiM Ultra

Who am I to say if a person who just activated an Ultra with a phone or tablet having its own perfectly fine, touchscreen display shouldn't insist the streamer have an attached display of its very own? Or perhaps two? Just because I think an embedded screen provides less utility than a portable...

    WiiM Ultra

I call this the Eversolo effect. How would everyone feel if the Ultra's display only showed Track Title, Album Art and Elapsed Time? Pretty sad, I'd say. Everyone wants the bouncing VU needles.

    WiiM Ultra

And I think this is the biggest risk - going upmarket but not far enough upmarket. Meaning - I remain curious as to who the Ultra will serve best when they've built a following around those looking for affordable audio. Folks shopping for DAC/Streamers as new hobbyists or 2nd system buildings...

    WiiM Ultra

If the WiiM Pro+ is retailing at $219 and the plans are to add a screen, phono stage, USB out, room correction, etc, etc, the Ultra is for sure a $300+ device. Probably $350. That's my guess. And even at $350, with features stated and the usual WiiM excellent performance, it'll be an incredible...

    WiiM Ultra

For people who've paired a Mini or Pro (and Pro+) with a dedicated DAC costing north of $1,000, I'm wondering how the Ultra will be viewed as a replacement for this combo. I wonder because at some point, I would guess that people now using a Mini or Pro for an all-in value system costing less...
