Back in the 80s when I would ski in Austria, beer (which is how I judge things) was pretty similar in price to the UK. That wasn't in Vienna though

Munich is great. Beer, the BMW museum, and maybe the best Mahler orchestra in the world. Vienna is a well known musician hangout I've heard.
