Aside from the larger question of adding configurability, I’m also having this particular problem — I use the Wiim for all manner of films and television playback and I often pause something for longer than the 2.5 minutes, resulting in having to rewind. I’m using active monitors so I don’t have...
I wanted to say while I prefer the current behaviour and don’t want the behaviour OP described, I 100% support the request to make it configurable.
Everything relating to the trigger feature (including the fact that it simply doesn’t work with a wide range of other equipment...) is extremely...
Yes — to clarify what I posted, you WILL also need Ton’s adapter to make the Audiophonics work with the Wiim Pro, due to Wiim’s utter failure to deliver a working trigger feature. I just wanted to post a known-working setup, however convoluted, given official information on this is non-existent...
Yeah sadly it’s nothing with the audio output settings, all of which I’ve played around with. I’ve had the 100% fixed volume on forever as my DAC has its own output gain and remote control etc.
Twice in the past week I’ve turned on my audio system to find the output level really low — on the order of -40dB less that it would normally be.
My setup is a TV playing into the pro via optical, and output to a DAC also via optical. The DAC volume has to be really high now to hear anything...
Here is a verified (by me) solution that works for Europe:
- Audiophonics IEC power switch: https://www.audiophonics.fr/en/diy-...v-230v-slave-power-supply-device-p-10661.html.
- @Ton Zandbergen ’s trigger finger: https://forum.wiimhome.com/threads/12-volt-trigger-out.814/post-25049

I actually prefer this behaviour, with my use case being alternating input from TV via optical and Wi-Fi via AirPlay. I can turn on the TV and browser around, or let it go to screensaver, for however long I want and only when a programme or stream starts do the monitors turn on.
But I would...
I don’t want this exact behaviour myself but I have the same frustration, and both our problems would be solved by just adding a few more configuration options around the trigger timing and behaviour…
This is incredibly annoying for me, because it seems like there’s a really simple behaviour that would always work correctly…
Just have the input switch to WIFI when something is actually being streamed (eg. Via AirPlay in my case), and switch back to the optical (which surely most everyone is...
This looks amazing! I would happily pay the components cost, postage, and something for your labour if you were making up a few of these. Feel free to DM.
This is great! I’m not confident enough with mains power safety to attempt some of the other solutions posted but I could try and get these components and have a go at this.
Is there any reason this circuit wouldn’t work in the UK with a 240v supply? I’m guessing it’s irrelevant since I’m still...
Thanks for this! Looks to confirm @Uvi ’s statement exactly. Wiim surely understand exactly what’s going on here right? And they’re just not wanting to admit the problem publicly (or even in support threads) because it can’t be fixed in software?
To be honest I expect few enough of us use the...
Thank you so much for digging into the technical side of this! I have some understanding of the electronics but not the time to brush up and test this properly myself.
At this point I can only assume that Wiim know perfectly well what the issue is with the trigger and aren’t saying much because...
