This is the mystery new product? An amp that delivers?
But seriously...
I put this together out of curiosity & was rather surprised by how good it is.
£30 for the amp & £30 for the PSU.
It's a very serious amp for what it cost.
It won't replace any of my existing gear but if cost is an issue...
Around the time the Wiim amp was proposed I was messing around with some TPA3255 amps.
My design team doesn't mess about! We put a 700W PSU in a very smart chassis along with a Wiim Mini.
The next incarnation is powered by my lawn mower battery.
Note the use of ultra low noise crimp...
Many powerbanks won't charge & provide power at the same time. This wouldnt help you.
I have a cheap power bank from Aldi in the UK which works like a UPS and would do what you want. Unfortunately all I can tell you is that it was 'made in China for Juice'
If you live in a part of the world...
Sorry. I missed this post.
I'm fairly confident that the Wiim uses a switching regulator to reduce the 5v from the USB input to a more usual 3v3. It's extremely unlikely that any digital device in any Wiim device operates at 5v.
It's conceivable that an audio board has an entirely separate...
I'm intrigued by the idea of using linear power supplies etc
If I'm honest, I don't get it.
Surely all of the Wiim devices use switching regulators anyway?
It would be nice to see schematics of the Wiim devices. I imagine these to closely follow reference designs from chip manufacturers?
I have a similar issue, I've not solved it but I'm getting there.
My Linn LP12 is on a different wall to the rest of my gear. I rarely use it nowadays but occasionally get the urge to spin some vinyl
My amp is a Cambridge Audio CXA610 which has onboard aptXHD bluetooth. It sounds great from my...
I use Amazon HD directly into my Cambridge Audio amp from my tv. Yes it's CD quality. As are most of the streams.
I switch to my Wiim if I really need UHD
9/10 the original recordings are shit anywaý?
Sure. I have two NAS boxes. One RAID1 another RAID0. 6TB in total.
Getting REALLY off topic now!
I'm no MS fanboy! Buy a thin client & install your preferred OS?
Much cheaper than a rPi tangle?
Ix
But the OP DID explain that the NAS would be dedicated to serving his media?
Buying a NAS to achieve this is ridiculous?
You would seriously recommend a NAS costing hundreds against a thin client costing pennies?
More precisely it's likely to be TCP/IP rather than simply the internet. If you wanted a distant friend to (reliably) keep in touch how would you do it? You can probably think of a few ways?
This is hopelessly simplistic but you might imagine that your Wiim is asking for food, like a hungry...
Why is 5v very important?
I'm fairly confident that the SOC on all wiim devices don't operate at 5v.
Typically 3v3, so I'm similarly confident that any 5V input faces a voltage regulator on the wiim. I suspect this to be a switcher, does anyone know?
I'd be interested to know. It adds an...
