Audirvana is like iTunes, but it's also a renderer, which means it's also an engine; iTunes with Airplay built in, and therefore can avoid all the Airplay problems. I open up Audivarna, select something, and it goes through the Wiim to my amp outfit and voila. It costs depending on choice, $100...

Brantome is right; Wiim doesn't downsample. Airplay does. Sorry, Wiimers.

From my understanding, if Airplay is in the mix anywhere, your signal will be downsampled.

As i have discovered, if you want anything more than 256 bitrate, you can't use Airplay 2. Wiim downsamples.

That makes it useless to me and millions of others. It’s hardly an obscure player etc and WiiM should have mentioned this in its compatibility statements. Thank you for your time to answer!

I can't find the solution anywhere here. I use Apple Music/Airplay/ to a Wiim Pro+, but everything is downgraded to 256kps. AAC. Even my hires music gets the AAC treatment. What am I doing wrong? Obviously something; Wiim wouldn't sell a product touting Airplay etc, knowing that it downgrades...
