Our front room is very small (typical Victorian semi detached size). I’ve moved our 3010is from stands to the bookshelf above TV. Inserted the foam plugs into the rear. Can’t really tell the difference, slightly more bass maybe. Used HouseCurve to compare the graphs (which may be better than my...
Slightly offtopic but there appears to be a problem with the sensitivity. If I have the auto-detect thing turned on for line-in then sometimes even with the turntable turned off it will switch away from HDMI to line-in. So I only turn that on when I use the turntable.
Oh wait, didn’t realise the iPhone has 3 mics and the default for HouseCurve was the bottom one. Just switched to the front one and the treble peak disappeared.
I realised that I’d had the phone vertical but facing me when I did the tests. Just tried again with phone vertical and facing away and also horizontal - exactly the same curve as above.
I did play around with it last week using the built in mic on both my iPhone and iPad but kept getting odd results - a peak in the treble with both my 3030i and wharfedale diamond 9.1. No equaliser set.
I have roughly 3 metres of cable carrying line out from turntable to amp. After reading people talking about shielding and so on I bought some good quality thick RCA audio cable to replace the rather thin headphone style cable I had been using. Roped my son in with his younger ears to help judge...
I've got a pair of new Q Acoustics 3010i, no subwoofer. On 40cm high stands in a small lounge without the foam plugs in the back. I'm in my mid-sixties so hearing not the best. To me they sound quite harsh, definitely not as warm and bassy as the Wharfedale Diamond 9.1s in our main room. Am...
I reported extreme heat as in almost too hot to touch. But:
the Amp was inside a cabinet
it was not going into standby at the time so this was after being on for hours in an enclosed space
Since placing it outside the cabinet I've had no problems with it getting hot.
On the other hand:
it...
Hi, most of my music is on Apple Music including songs I've uploaded via iTunes Match. Appears I have a choice between streaming from my iPhone via Airplay or using the Apple Music app on my Samsung TV via HDMI. Which is likely to be better quality? I'm guessing the Apple Music app?
Oh and one...
Thanks for that tip. I also turned on both line in and optical auto sense and it now appears to come out of standby when I turn the TV on and go back into standby when I turn the TV off.
More weirdness: tv on, turntable off. Turn tv off, amp stays on as already discussed. Some 30 minutes later, amp status light turns green (line in) for no reason. Then 30 secs later goes into standby. Then comes back on again! At least it is now out of cabinet so we can see what it is doing...
Auto sensing line in? I have that set with the optical off. There is no auto sensing option for HDMI though?
The line in auto sensing is another issue but I need to note the exact sequence of operations next time it happens. But it was something along the lines of … I had the output set to a...
Ok I’m going to have to move it out of the cabinet until that issue is resolved. Without being able to see the status light there’s no other way of knowing if it’s gone into standby and doesn’t feel safe to have it that hot.
I have my brand new WiiM Amp in a cabinet along with Sky Q box and Xbox. Standby is set to 30 seconds. I just went to plug some leads into it having not used it overnight and discovered it is extremely hot - almost too hot to touch. This can’t be normal surely? There is some air around cracks of...
