It would certainly be easier to control the volume with the WiiM remote that comes with the Pro Plus, but I'm fine with using the volume knob on a device. As you mentioned, the Schiit SYS doesn't have a remote.
I'm willing to give up the remote volume control if the sonics would be better using...
I have a simple stereo system with a WiiM Pro Plus feeding directly into a Adcom power amp then to vintage ProAc speakers. Only source is the WiiM for streaming Spotify and Amazon Music HD. Since I use the Pro+ as the volume control I have "fixed volume output" disabled.
Would there be any...
FYI, for people shopping for an affordable coaxial cable, the Blue Jeans Cable coaxial (Belden 1694A RCA/RCA) does fit, just barely. But it fits.
Agree that this is a poor hardware design to recess the coaxial plug.
Same here. M1 MacBook Pro. This is the WiiM app on the official App Store.
There is a different “beta” app with a link on the website. They does run but it doesn’t have much functionality. I can’t figure out what it actually does. But it doesn’t crash 😉
Seems like a good review on the digital side but the internal analog-to-digital converter (ADC) is pretty poor and the DAC could be better.
Anyone know of a good consumer grade ADC that isn't super expensive? I have a cheap $17 USD ADC from Hdiwousp but I'm sure there are better options.
My...
The bottom looks just like the top. It is flat but has a very thin rubber-like non-skid material as you can see from this and the other photo. I don't know what you're looking for but you could add stick-on bumpers if you needed to.
I am not certain about this but you might be able to bridge these devices with the Apple iOS Home app (if you have an iOS device).
Another thought, the WiiM Mini is $79 USD in the US. You could transmit/steam the signal from your WiiM Pro into the WiiM Mini with the multi-room feature, then...
It's a $17 cable that I need anyway for a different application. Took me about 10 minutes. I hope I can somehow get those 10 minutes of my life back.
Sometimes people might want to use a different cable. Or you need a cable longer than the included 1m so you want to know what other cables work...
Similar problem with me with the WiiM Pro, I've added two posts on this.
The supplied WiiM optical cable works up to 24/192 (Amazon Music UHD) when I run it from the WiiM optical out into the optical in of my DAC. So I know that my app and streaming settings are right. But I have tried 3 other...
Thanks, appreciate the tip. It's a brand new cable, but I tried to clean the jacks. Still didn't work at 24/192 although it does work at 24/96. Just for kicks, I plugged it in the opposite way (meaning that I put the plug that was in the WiiM into the DAC, and the plug that was in the DAC I put...
See title. I have a brand new 1m optical cable from Blue Jeans Cable. It works on 24 bit / 96 kHz but not 24/192 when I play music on Amazon Music HD or the test audio in the WiiM Home app. The only way I can get 24/192 is with the included WiiM optical cable.
UPDATE: actually, I bought 2 of...
I would like to know this too. The one reason I use multi-room is to play my turntable into one WiiM in one room, and listen to it in another room on my other WiiM. As I understand it, WiiM downsamples any hi-rez music to 16-bit/48kHz in multi-room transmissions between WiiMs. I think part of...
Thank you, that doesn't surprise me. WiiM has stated in the Amazon product page Q&A section:
Since the main use case for the WiiM "line in" is multi-room, there is no point in converting to a higher resolution in the WiiM's internal ADC only to have to downsample it to broadcast out over...
Here is what I don't understand:
Just to clarify, your would not use your WiiM Pro this way.
With the WiiM Pro, you would connect the WiiM to your Audiolab 8300A from the WiiM's analog "line out" output into one of the inputs (like "aux") of your amplifier using a stereo RCA interconnect...
