Thanks to the LinkPlay ecosystem, my two speakers create a multiroom group. This increasingly popular system is now used by many manufacturers such as Audio Pro (Audio Pro G10, Audio Pro A10, etc.), Octavio (Octavio AMP, Octavio Maestro and Octavio Stream), Jean-Marie Reynaud (JMR Agape) or Elipson (Elipson Multiroom range). All these devices from different brands can thus work in symbiosis. I only want to know if I need to have a third streamer to control the subwoofer.

I’d be surprised if the WiiM subwoofer would be compatible with those even though they have a Linkplay module - for example, it’s only the WiiM Edition Audio Pro devices that support peq, room correction etc - the original ones don’t.

How many subwoofers can play down to 25 Hz at 96 dB with 1% THD+N? Certainly no sub with a single 8" driver ...
Those frequency response curves are usually +/-3dB, often +/-6dB.... Depends on the manufacturer. If the range isn't specified, I assume +/-6dB. 🤷‍♂️

Actually the ruark rs1 subwoofer 8", that I own, does state 25 Hz. But I assume this is +/-6dB.

It does play test tones around that range, plays down to approx +/-3dB at 30 Hz...

Also afaik the goldenear forcefield 8" model also claims similar numbers.

Yes, this kind of frequency extension is possible with good drivers and massive EQ.

But you won't get 1% THD from a single 8" at 96 dB SPL.

THD not so important with such low frequencies.

I've seen some claims that from 20Hz to 40Hz distortion is almost inaudible, until the distortion is as loud as the music itself, an even at 280Hz (at which point my Ultra has handed frequencies over to my Wharfedales, and none are getting to my sub) distortion needs to be half as loud as the music itself:

I wouldn't take that as absolute gospel. But I wouldn't worry too much about a slight increase in distortion low down.

I didn't ask for any sub to achieve such such performance figures. :)

But there is no point in a sub going to 20 Hz at say 20% THD. The 20 Hz output would be basically indistinguishable from the 40 Hz harmonic.

Also looking forward to this, but not been able to find the answer to this question in this thread.

My set up is ultra into standard wired 2 channel integrated amp, speaker (again wired).

Will I be able to wirelessly add the sub to this set up?

Thx

Yes, as the Ultra handles bass management.

But you still must be controlling the volume from the WiiM Ultra, not the integrated amplifier.
