Tidal new Audio Quality tier not recognized

Hi!

Yesterday Tidal deployed their new audio quality tier in Android and Desktop, which removes Master quality and MQA is being slowly replaced with FLAC codec for maximum quality ('Max' in the app).

When I use Tidal Connect with my Wiim Mini it doesn't recognize the tracks that are FLAC in Max settings. For example: Hand Cannot Erase album by Steven Wilson went from High to Max. If I reproduce the tracks on my phone or desktop it uses Max but if I use the Wiim to stream it does it in 'High' with cd quality 16bit/44.1KHz.

I attached some screenshots so you can see it.

It seems that you need to do some changes to stream this new codec.

More accurately, Tidal have to release an updated API to allow third parties to access this new format - see

How about the non hi res ? Are they now flac cd quality or mqa cd quality ?

Max = FLAC and MQA (Tidal prioritize FLAC over MQA if a track has both codecs)
High = FLAC 16bit/44.1KHz

I never even had a chance to try MQA
Don’t think I missed anything though
