Wiim AMP switch mode API Optical

If I try to call the API to switch to optical input, I get 'OK' back but source is changed to WIFI instead. Is this is a bug or am I doing something wrong?

URL that I use is https://192.168.xxx.xxx/httpapi.asp?command=setPlayerCmd:switchmode:optical

Changing optical in the url to HDMI or line-in makes it switch to the right input.

It looks like the HTTP API documentation has still not been updated to reflect devices other than the Mini. Did you simply guess the mode string to be hdmi (all lower case?) and it worked?

Did you try both, http and https requests? Probably shouldn't make a difference if your user agent doesn't care for the invalid certificate when switching to line-in or hdmi, but well ... who knows. The HTTP API documentation inconsistently describes http and https requests, probably for no special reason. The URL looks just right.

I note that in a previous post someone said that 'hdmi' returned ok, but did not work, as the switchmode parameter is case sensitive, and needed to be 'HDMI' instead. (Which your post shows you already knew.)
However, the doco does show that it's 'optical', all lowercase.
Did you try variations, just in case?

i tried Optical and OPTICAL both without success. I found another thread on HDMI and thats why I knew it had to be in capitals.

Edit: clarification - works for me on a wiim pro; I don't have an amp.
I'm sure someone else here does and can verify instead!


Had been using tidal connect.
Put this in a browser

Then just changed line-in to optical and ran it again (seems the : o has been changed to eek: so gives a funny face when I view it!)

Looks like a bug in the (undocumented) WiiM Amp firmware then.

Probably worth filing a ticket.

I would expect the version of the WiiM Home App to have a similar influence on the HTTP API as new batteries for the remote.

It should all be part of the Amp's firmware.
