Yes I experience the SPDIF input crackling too on firmware 4.8.520133. Previously I would experience audio drop outs on the SPDIF input. Those have gone now but instead I get occasional crackling.
Yes tried reboot and power cycle. I tried again last night. If I manually change to another input in the app other than optical it then switched back to optical as intended after going into standby. As soon as I cast from Chromecast, disconnected from Chromecast, the pro goes into standby and...
Auto-sensing used to work but updated to firmware 4.8.520133 and now it doesn’t work. If the Wiim Pro is streaming music from Chromecast and I stop casting - disconnect from the Wiim pro via Chromecast app - then after the wiim pro goes into standby it should auto sense the active optical input...
I’ve stopped using the optical input now on the Pro. My TV is connected directly to the speaker via optical - no drop outs now. Pro used only for casting and have to switch inputs on the speaker between TV and Pro optical inputs.

Unfortunately my TV doesn’t have a line out. I could buy an optical to line out DAC, which doesn’t cost much, but seems kinda pointless just to fix an issue. I submitted a ticket to Wiim support which they acknowledged they are looking into but no response yet.
I’m a recent new owner of a Wiim Pro. I’m experiencing audio drop outs when watching TV with the TV connected to the optical input of the Pro. The drop outs last a second or two and seem to occur more often when the Pro comes out of standby for the first few minutes but then do occur again...
