Fixed volume vs volume limit

I would certainly hope so, otherwise it wouldn't be a bit perfect output (for things like MQA to work).

I am not home to test. Volume limit for instance to 95% and fixed volume 100% is essentially like having the volume fixed to 95%?

but i am using roon and the signal path of roon show nothing wrong

i do not under stand it. 🤷‍♂️
If you change the digital signal in any way by applying a digital volume change either directly via the volume control or indirectly via the volume limit, then the digital stream will change and therefore by definition is not the same as the original so is not bit perfect.

Bit perfect means an unaltered signal.
A limited volume, i.e. not 100%, necessarily means that the signal has to be altered, to reduce the signal's amplitude.
The only way to get bit perfect is with a non-limited volume.

"limiter at 85 and fixed volume set on it plays with external dac qieter."
Well, of course, you're sending a reduced amplitude (attenuated, quieter) signal to the dac.
