When I use Chromecast from the Amazon Music app to send music to the Wiim pro it down samples every to 16/44.1. Is there some way to get it to play the track in native quality? I know Chromecast is supposed to support higher bit depth and sample rates.
Anything I play through the Wiim home app doesn't count towards the frequent or recent lists. Where as playing something using the Amazon app does update those lists.
I can but Alex had other problems. The queue is invisible, can't see the bit rate, it's super slow to respond to commands, and it doesn't like to play for long periods forcing me to go back into the app to resume.
EQ fundamentally is incapable of fixing most room issues. If you have a cancellation from room modes boosting to that freq. Will just make it cancel more. It does nothing to address decay times. You need an active correction system that's adding signal in the time domain to do that.
EQ should...
A higher end streamer device. With features like: USB, AES & I2s output. Support fro Dirac, SoundID, or other room correction. A screen to display album art.
HoloAudio, makers of the May DAC, has their streamer the HoloAudio Red with a lot of these features already. It's only $800. Wiim could probably match it's feature set for half that price and it would have better software too.
The Hadal Zone by Opal Ocean:
Acoustic instrumental rock/metal. Some of the better tracks are Time I Live, Point Of No Return, Micro Rave, Polycephaly, and Call to The Void.
I'd like something with more premium features than are on current devices, such as USB or I2s outputs, high resolution clocks or external clock input, display on device, support for Dirac or other digital room correction options.
I have a Ubiquity U6 Pro AP that's quite good and has direct line of site to the Wiim. Nothing else on the network has any issue connection or staying connected.
And if it were network related why does it slowly get worse over time and resettling fixes it?
The Wiim Mini is constantly pausing. After playing for a while it just starts pausing all over the place. The pauses seem to get longer and more frequent the longer it's playing. Restarting the device helps, but it starts pausing again soon.
