Chromecast broken? Upon review Not a WiiM issue

It seems that Chromecast is broken. If I cast from an app like Global Player choosing Chromecast, not Airplay, it starts playing but if I close the Global Player app the WiiM app stops playing. With Chromecast, WiiM should continue.

It seems to be an issue with the Global Player running in iOS. Other apps such as BBC Sounds work fine.

I created a ticket via Feedback.

Almost sounds like Global Player is not really using Chromecast then, but Airplay instead.

You should be able to verify (or falsify) that using the Google Home app.

Continues ok for me using ChromeCast from my iPad to my WiiM Pro (and can be seen in the Google home app), even after turning my iPad off.

Tried Chromecasting to a google device and the problem exists there too. So indeed a Global Player issue here in iOS.

I’m on an iPad Pro on iPadOS 16.7.5 and it’s ok for me - I guess your kit/ ios version might differ.

It is odd since @Brantome does not see the same problem.

It is not a WiiM problem. I see the same issue casting to 2 other Chromecast receivers. I will close the ticket.

Looks like it. I sent Global Player a message. Let’s see if they address it.
