kbps into “aux in” equal to kbps played through linked WiiMs?

I know that when I link WiiMs to play the same music, the signal is changed to 48/16, regardless of the music file’s sample rate and bit depth. But is the bitrate played on the linked Wiims reduced to 256kbps?

For example, if I play 1411 kbps music into a Wiim Mini’s “Aux In” port, will the other linked Wiims also play 1411kbps? Or reduced to 256kbps similar to what happens with Airplay 2?

The resolution should be maintained up to the max the group supports I.e. 16/48, so I’d expect your 1411kbps to be maintained, even if you were using Airplay casting. It’s Apple Music that has issues with airplay 2…
