DAC not able to fit into setup?

So, I currently have a WiiM Pro going via optical to powered KEF LS50 ii wireless. I’ve always been interested in upgrading the sound with a DAC, so I bought a cheap SMSL SU -1, which I can connect to my WiiM pro because the SMSL has an optical input. However, the SSML DAC only has RCA output. AND the back of the LS 50 does not have RCA inputs. I know that the powered speakers do not need an amplifier, but I think in order to use a DAC I’m looking at having to get an amplifier. Does anyone know of a way to connect the DAC to the speakers?

Looking at the specs, there’s a 3.5mm analog input. However, that is almost certainly going to be fed via an ADC into the KEF’s digital input, so you really aren’t going to gain anything. The digital inputs are very likely your best option. I wouldn’t worry about a “better” DAC than the one in the speakers, which is no doubt perfectly matched to them.
