Enable live stream

Wiim app can send Streaming live services to the wiim mini for LIVE playback.
However, (say) jriver can not send a live stream to wiim mini being a DLNA device.
How about, adding a facility, to use the wiim app as a sound device, so I could use an obscure online streaming service, received on a browser to be routed to wiim mini for live playback.
BTW, jriver can play to wiim mini, playing local files, with no issues. But a live stream won't work.

You can use Stream What You Hear to present your pc audio as a webstream, and use the Open Network Stream feature in the WiiM app to play that stream. The more recent version of SWYH can also direct the audio to a UPNP renderer like the Wiim devices.

Thanx, I give it a try.
Can it manage 24/192?
What is Open Network Stream feature?
In the WiiM app on the main Browse page, you’ll find an Open Network Stream entry where you can enter the URL of an internet radio station, for example, and then have it saved in its list of network streams. I’d guess you could enter the URL that SWYH offers, but you may find SWYH’s UPNP renderer option easier to use - again, I’d guess you‘d find it under Home Music Share in the WiiM app once SWYH is up and running

Re 24/192, I don’t honestly know as I haven’t used the new version. I’d imagine/hope that it would use the Windows/sound card settings.
Interesting development!
I can not get SWYH to stream to wiim mini, it tries but then nothing happens.
So then, I setup the jriver on my PC to act as a UPNP renderer.
SWYH does see it, and can play to it at 24/192 !!
Any glitches, and jriver renderer crashes, but for the most part, it works.
So I got to do, what I wanted to do, but sadly without the wiim.
Unless you can tell me how to make SWYH to send to wiim mini direct.
Never the less, thanx.

Update
Wiim just doesn't connect to SWYH, or vice versa.
I tried LPCM, WAV or FLAC. I used the SWYH stream link in the wiim app, it just won't play.
SWYH can manage true 24bit in FLAC only, on other formats it reverts to 16bit, in a 24 bit package, which frankly is enough.
The added bonus of FLAC for transport means almost a 2/3 bandwidth saving.
SWYH works with Jriver (windows) and Neutron player and UAPP on Android.
I am sorry, wiim has proved to be difficult to connect to, for my purposes, I really loved it, but can't use it.

You sound like you have given up but when you were trying the http links did you have Windows firewalling On?

No, firewall was not it.
SWYH reports playback started, then a second later, playback ended.
I opened the ports.

That seems odd. If you are using the http route then all SWYH does is generate an internet radio type stream which should be like any other internet radio stream at a basic 16bit level. It doesn't surprise me that playing via UPnP doesn't work though. I will experiment with my Mini later.

Loads, well some … https://www.hiresaudio.online/hires-internet-radio/

They even work on LMS ;)
I’ve heard of Mother Earth Radio in relation to LMS but not the others!
On the question at hand if WiiM won’t tune in to a SWYH http link at 16/LPCM then I’d suggest the WiiM implementation is broken.
I’ll test as soon as I can with SWYH and also with a local Icecast server broadcasting 16/44.1 FLAC in an Ogg container.
TBH I’m coming to the view that this “ all things to all men “ approach by WiiM is fundamentally flawed. There are too many things that should work that just don’t.
My WiiM Mini will work (mostly) with LMS but others with Pro (which I still can’t order if I wanted one) can’t get it to work satisfactorily.

16/44 does not work, nothing works, not with SWYH.
Tried all frequencies, all formats. FLAC or WAV, any inputs.
Yet Neutron, wiims own app, and on windows, Jriver all can use Wiim, but not for a live source.
SWYH works fine with jriver or Neutron as endpoints.

I have an Icecast server locally. I use it to stream Vinyl and other sources connected to my HiFi (e.g. DAB Radio) to various rooms in my house via LMS.

The Icecast server outputs a 16/44.1 Flac stream in an Ogg container. My hardware will not allow 24bit.

In LMS I "tune in"to the Icecast stream using a URL in the format http://IP:9000/phono.

I have tested this with Mini in 2 ways

1. WiiM Mini as LMS endpoint
2. WiiM Mini natively using "Open Network Stream"

Both work with no issue.

I will spin up SWYH later and repeat.

I have now tried SWYH.
The play to WiiM as renderer option does not work.
Using the URL approach and sending 16 bit WAV is mixed.

1. WiiM Mini as LMS endpoint (WORKS)
2. WiiM Mini natively using "Open Network Stream" (DOES NOT WORK)
