You can as long as your streaming app uses airplay 1. So maybe Apple users should ask for an Airplay 1 option in the WIIM home app.

I’d imagine You can’t if you’re using their latest api it’s airplay 2 and not much choice of anything else. Apple have deprecated it for development. Only older systems that have not switched apis to add Airplay 2 can still operate in legacy mode. But they run risk of latency issues and dropouts with multiroom. It’s obvious they limited it to aac to get a more robust system given Wi-Fi in most homes is a crap shoot as to how we’ll implement it is. They will want less support issues and this is one way of achieving it.

As you only get CD quality with Airplay tbh AAC256 is very very good for lossy and most won’t be able to discern the difference. Infact lots have believed they have been streaming lossless with Apple Music and have never noticed.
