Basic question from a beginner

I tried it and although my amp tells me I received 16/44.1 from Apple, it doesn’t sound like it to me. It’s poor.
I’ve switched to Qobuz and am getting up to 24/192.

Yeah, 16/44.1 could indicate a PCM stream with lossy content, not the lossless 16/44.1 we’d see for CD quality.

Qobuz shows what’s possible. I quite enjoyed Amazon too, and I may try a month of Tidal soon now that it offers FLAC via Connect

Tidal hifi (not plus) has been giving me flac (no 'k') since I got it
(And the odd bit of mqa master stuff too, I suppose.)
