Whenever I play a recording using Wiim’s Tidal app (one I know it is of the ‘Tidal Master’ sort) i get 24/48. However, if I use Tidal Connect i can play it (and verify it on Wiim’s app) at 24/96. It didn’t used to be like that. Anyone knows why?

Didn't it?
I thought the only way to get mqa working with wiim was via tidal connect.
afaik, wiim have not yet supported mqa when using tidal within the wim app.

My thoughts too, but I do seem to recall someone claiming they were getting the first unfold from the WiiM app too

I only get 48/24. My SPDIF is set to 96/24 What could be wrong?

Or my repetitive question: Are you sure the files in Tidal are 96/24? Or do you expect an upsampling for everything?
Second for the informed, because no MQA here, what does the first line in WiiM's release notes from today mean and eventually change?

I have enabled MQA. MQA capabilities is set to "decoder and render". My DAC is a topping E50.
Test sound in the app is working as it should for 96/24

It means the wiim can do the first mqa unfold if you use tidal from within the wiim app.
Previously you had to use tidal connect for that.

I think the E50 is a full decoder via usb, and a renderer via spdif.

Why not set it to 192/24?
Both coax and optical on the E50 accept that.

Assuming these speca are correct:

USB IN: PCM 44.1kHz-768kHz/16bit-32bit
DSD DSD64-DSD512 (Native), DSD64-DSD256 (DoP)
MQA Full Decoding

COAX/OPT IN: PCM 44.1kHz-192kHz/16bit-24bit
DSD DSD64(Dop)
MQA Renderer Decoding

I have changed MQA to render only, and booted E50 and WiiM.Something changed.
The display on E50 is 88,2 and PCM on
When I hit play button in the WiiM app the E50 display change to 44.1 and PCM off. No sound
When I hit pause button in WiiM app E50 goes back to 88.2 and PCM on

Same issue for Tidal connect

With the latest firmware update, I have got 32 bits. Isn't MQA core decoder only to 24 bit? My tidal subscription is hi fi plus.
