Some questions regarding playing files from an USB stick/drive connected to the Wiim Amp. I don’t have it yet, still waiting on my preorder to ship.

  1. Does the Amp create some kind of index on the external disk when you insert a drive in the usb port?
  2. Can you remotely upload new music to the disk connected to the Amp?
  3. Can you remotely trigger a re-index after adding new music?
  4. Does the Amp act as a DLNA server that you can use to cast music to other (non Wiim) devices in the network?

Thank you!

1. Yes
2. Not that I can see
3. Not unless the WiiM API has been extended to do that, and I’m not aware that it has
4. I guess you could use the Amp’s Airplay casting feature to do that. There has been talk of WiiM developing a UPNP cast feature but no date has been set for that.

Edit: The WiiM Amp USB contents do appear as a UPNP server to other UPNP client apps like BubbleUPNP etc
