Can I use the shortcut keys on a remote control for programs other than Spotify

I think Spotify's features are great. However, I feel it's a bit of a waste if the remote control I purchased is only limited to Spotify. Is it possible to set it up for other services, such as DLNA, Tidal, etc.?"
