Some day there will be a firmware update with a regression bug affecting just my use case. When that happens, I would like to simply select an older fw from the app menu, downgrade, and keep listening while filing a bug report.

First off - your request is something I often ask for. (Amazon Kindle - I am looking at you.)
Having a user base on different versions is a nightmare for small companies to support. (And big ones it seems (yes, you Amazon))
